The covering of such trauma is one that differentiates it from PTSD and makes it all the more complicated. CPTSD is complicated to diagnose and does not have its own DSM listing. A prolonged feeling or lack of escape and ability to change it.
We all have different tolerance levels and what might be traumatic for some, doesn't register for others. One of the main differences is that CPTSD reshapes not only a view of self, but the world as a whole. Such as a caregiver, parent or protector. Though it can happen to anyone who has suffered prolonged trauma, it is more often seen in individuals who were abused by someone they thought they could trust. Instead of one traumatic event, CPTSD occurs with prolonged exposure to repeated physical, sexual or emotional abuse, neglect or being a prisoner of war. Similar to PTSD, but differing in how it formulates.
Complex post traumatic stress disorder is much like PTSD.
